EQUESTRIAN:
Equestrianism more often known as horse riding refers to the skill of riding or
driving with horses. This broad description includes the use of
horses for practical working purposes, transportation,
recreational activities, artistic or cultural exercises, and competitive sport.
HISTORY AND ORIGIN:
Through
there is controversy over the exact date horses were domesticated and when they were first
ridden; the best estimate is that horses first were ridden approximately 4500
BC. Indirect evidence suggests that horses were ridden long before they were
driven. Horses were
brought back to North America by European explorers, beginning with the second
voyage of Columbus in 1493.
COMPETITIONS:
There
are a lot of types of competitions like horse racing, western riding, horse
jumping show… but the most important one is dressage. In modern Dressage
competitions, the horse and rider perform a series of movements known as a
Dressage test. The tests are performed before a panel of seven judges, who
award scores for individual movements and for the overall routine.
